Joan (Sobota) VanDyke, 67, of Derry, died Friday March 29, 2024, in The Grove at Latrobe. She was born August 1, 1956, in Latrobe, a daughter of the late Paul P and Virgil (Bridge) Sabota. Joan was a member of St. Joseph Roman Catholic Church. For many years Joan was a loving caregiver to many elderly. Joan is remembered for her positive and outgoing personality and her contagious laugh.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her sister Dolores Barnhart and two brothers Mark and Jerry Sobota. She is survived by her husband Jan, of 44 years and who she considered as a daughter Krystale Russell (Clarence) and her granddaughter Regan, she is survived by two sisters Mary Anderson (Bruce) of Acme and Florence Androstic of Latrobe and two brothers Tim Sobota (Nancy) and Paul Sobota (Jennifer), numerous nieces, nephews and one great great nephew, many caring friends who surrounded her with love, and a special doggie named Willow. There will be no viewing or service at this time. A private memorial service will be held at a later date. Arrangements are under the direction of McCabe Funeral Home, Derry. Her family would like to thank Fr. Sam for all the love and care that he gave to Joan at her time of need.
